Our Story

How Fifth Door Was Born

Fifth Door was born from a pattern Sophie could no longer ignore. She kept encountering people who were gifted, driven, and entrusted with meaningful responsibility, yet inwardly felt divided, tired, and increasingly disconnected from peace.

Some carried their roles well. Others were barely holding everything together.

Many could not explain the heaviness they felt. Sophie recognized the same tension in her own life and realized the issue was deeper than motivation, productivity, or mindset. It was a formation crisis. People were trying to live at high capacity without an inner architecture strong enough to carry truth, pressure, and purpose at the same time.

Fifth Door was created as a multidisciplinary formation center in response to that reality. Its work integrates Internal Family Systems, spiritual formation, and practical disciplines to help people face what is real, integrate what is fragmented, and rebuild life from the inside out. In this work, Sophie collaborates with Dr. Melony Texidor, whose strengths in leadership development and human growth deepen the center’s transformational process.

Rooted in alignment with God and lived truth, Fifth Door exists to form people of courage and coherence who can carry responsibility without abandoning their soul, and who are prepared to live and lead with conviction, lasting peace, and joy.

CEO & Founder

Dr. Sophie von Laer

Dr. Sophie Sanaz von Laer is a multidisciplinary transformation strategist whose work bridges human development, systems thinking, depth psychology, and spiritual formation. She holds a PhD in Organizational Leadership, an MS in Systems Engineering, and a BS in Electrical Engineering, and has led high-stakes enterprise initiaves, including oversight of a $1.6B program.

Her background includes research connected to the human brain and neurotechnology, as well as years of coaching executives, founders, and high-capacity professionals through leadership transitions and sustained personal transformation. She has advised and developed leaders across organizations, including Amazon Web Services, HP, and ID.ME, and many more. She has taught and coached through institutions such as Columbia University, George Mason University, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Her work focuses on helping individuals and teams strengthen inner coherence, decision quality, resilience under pressure, and purpose-aligned leadership.

Dr. Melony Texidor

Dr. Melony Texidor is a growth and development strategist, educator, and certified strengths coach with over a decade of experience equipping individuals, nonprofit leaders, and faith-based organizations to lead with clarity, courage, and character.

With a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership and research focused on transformational leadership and positive psychological capital, she integrates faith, evidence-based leadership theory, and practical application to cultivate resilient, purpose-driven, and empowered individuals. Through coaching, experiential learning, and dynamic facilitation, Melony helps individuals and teams align their calling with actionable leadership practices that strengthen culture, deepen trust, and advance mission.

At Fifth Door, her work supports people in integrating inner life and outer responsibility so they can lead, build, and live from greater clarity, resilience, and alignment.
